Available for the first time through Fandom Productions. This iconic 1955 photo of a youthful Bob Gurr test driving a Mark l Autopia police car vehicle just weeks before the opening of the attraction. Autographed by Autopia designer and Legendary Disney Imagineer, Bob Gurr. Personalization not available.
On the back side of the photo comes affixed a lable with the following text:
- Lester Nehamkin, a Hollywood Studio photographer who followed auto
racing in Southern California, did a feature story about Autopia in the
summer of 1955. The October 1955 issue of Hot Rod magazine carried
Lester’s story, along with eight photos, describing the newly opened
Disneyland’s Autopia Ride. One photo in particular turned out to be
quite historical: a very young future Legendary Imagineer Bob Gurr
spinning donuts in a special Mark l Autopia car. It was one of two sheriffs
cars that were used during Autopia’s first summer. Decorated with big
sheriff emblems, equipped with twin red lights, radio antenna, and siren,
they were used to give “cop car” rides to tiny children. -
Each 8" x 10" photo is printed on glossy cover stock paper and includes a quarter inch white border ready for framing with a photo mat. Comes shipped in a rigid stay-flat mailer for extra protection.
